Configuring
Use this information to configure an IBM® Domino® network, users, servers (including Web servers), directory services, security, messaging, widgets and live text, and server clusters. Also use this information to set up IBM iNotes® on a server using Domino Off-Line Services (DOLS).
Configuring Web servers
This section describes how to set up the IBM® Domino® Web server, the Domino Web Navigator, and other Web servers such as IBM HTTP.
The Web Navigator
The Web Navigator lets Notes® workstations access the Web, without having a direct connection to the Internet. The Web Navigator server, which has a direct connection to the Internet, retrieves pages for users. The Web Navigator retrieves pages on Internet servers -- for example, servers that use Internet services such as HTTP, FTP, or Gopher.
Customizing the Web Navigator
After you set up the Web Navigator on a server, you can customize it.
Allowing multiple users to retrieve pages concurrently
You can specify the number of users who can use the Web Navigator to retrieve pages concurrently. If users start more concurrent Web retrievals than allowed, IBM® Domino® queues them and starts them as soon as it can. Increasing the number of users who can retrieve pages improves response time, but increases the server load.

Allowing multiple users to retrieve pages concurrently

You can specify the number of users who can use the Web Navigator to retrieve pages concurrently. If users start more concurrent Web retrievals than allowed, IBM® Domino® queues them and starts them as soon as it can. Increasing the number of users who can retrieve pages improves response time, but increases the server load.

About this task

The number of users who can retrieve pages concurrently depends on the system configuration for your server. If user access is slow because the number of users specified is fewer than the number of users attempting to retrieve pages from the Internet, you can increase the number.

Procedure

From the Domino Administrator, click the Configuration tab, and then open the Server document for the Web Navigator server.
Click the Server Tasks > Web Retriever tab, specify a value for the Concurrent retrievers field, and then save the document. The default is 50.
