Enabling HCL Link runtime licensing
To use Link runtime components, complete the following steps before you install Link:
- Locate the folder where the Link is installed.
- Rename the .passport.oem file to .passport.
Link installation
To install HCL Link, complete the following steps:
- Copy the .exe file that you downloaded at time of purchase into a directory called HCL on your computer.
- Double click on the .exe file.
- Install Shield opens to guide you through the installation process.
Starting and Stopping Link
After Installing, to start and stop Link, follow the steps:
- In the Command windows change the current folder to
c:\HCL\Link_<version umber>\DesignServer
. - To start Link, run the
start.bat
command. The server start time might take several minutes depending on the performance of your computer. - To stop Link, run the
stop.bat
command. The server should stop in several seconds.
Accessing Link
You can access the Link web UI by pointing the web browser to the local URL: https://localhost:4443/login. To login for the first time, use the username “admin” and the initial administrator password which is stored in c:\HCL\hipfiles\adminpassword.txt. After you log in, change the initial password to the administrator account.
After changing the administrator account password, the password file can be deleted.
Customizing the installation
Link customization can be performed by editing settings in the file before installing Link:
c:\HCL\Link_<version umber>\config\config.yaml
Review the file content for detailed description of all customization options. If
you change any of the configuration settings post installation, in order to activate
the change, you must reinstall Link by running clean.bat
and then
install.bat
.
Customizing the Redis and Link Database
Link installation includes a Redis server. In the case that you want to use a preinstalled Redis server, you must customize your Link installation.
Redis customization instructions are written in the batch execution script located in the config.yaml file. Modify REDIS host and port settings to match your environment. Set the redis.deploy key value to false.
Change mongo settings to match your preinstalled MongoDB database settings.
Customizing the Link URL and selecting HTTPS/HTTPS protocol
The Link default URL https://localhost/4443/login uses HTTPS protocol on port 4443.

Uninstalling Link
Follow this procedure to uninstall Link:

Close all user windows on the desktop.

Start Windows system settings console by typing “Add or remove programs" in the Windows search dialog.

Select HCL Link <version number> runtime from the list of programs.

Click Uninstall.
