Compiling and saving

You can compile and save files.

About this task

Do the following:

Procedure

  1. Compile all modified files in an element by clicking the Compile All button.
  2. Save all modified files in an element by clicking File > Save (Ctrl+S) or closing the element.
    Save one file by closing it and responding Yes to the Save Resource query. Saving a file compiles it.

    You must save the element as well as each modified file. To automatically save the element each time you save a file, click File > Preferences > Domino Designer > Java Editor and check Autosave Java design element on save of individual Java sources.

  3. If you attempt to save a file with errors, a dialog appears. Click Yes to continue with the save operation. Click No to not save.
  4. If you attempt to close an agent, library, Web provider, or Web consumer with errors, a dialog appears listing the erroneous files. Click Save and Close All to continue with the save and close operation. Click Close Without Saving to close without saving the erroneous files. Click Cancel to return to the agent or library.

What to do next

Errors are flagged in the folder hierarchy as an X in a red box. The specific errors are listed in the Problems view at the bottom of the screen. Expand and double-click on an error description to open the file containing the error.

To turn off prompting, click File > Preferences > Domino Designer > Java Editor and clear Prompt me on save if there are Java errors.

If an agent, provider, or consumer references a Java™ library with errors, the run time fails with a "Class not found" exception.
