Presentation Designer - Feature updates
The following features have been added to Presentation Designer:
- Added automatic locking for presentation templates during active editing sessions to prevent conflicting edits. These locks release upon exiting Edit mode, saving and closing the template, or cancelling and navigating back to the Authoring portlet. For more information, refer to Automatic presentation template locking.
- Added the Layers panel to display a hierarchical tree view of canvas elements. The panel maps out parent containers and child contents to help you navigate complex presentation templates without clicking through nested elements in the workspace. For more information, refer to Layers.
- Updated the Style items panel to validate style values in real time by highlighting syntax errors in red, preventing invalid CSS from rendering on the canvas. The Save button is disabled until all errors are resolved. For more information, refer to Style validation.
- Added Button and Video static elements. For more information, refer to Static elements.
- Integrated DX Picker into the Canvas Context Preview feature, allowing you to select content items and digital assets directly from WCM libraries to evaluate real-time layout rendering. For more information, refer to Canvas Context Preview.

Digital Experience 8.5 and 9.0 Versions
Extended Support option now available for DX versions 8.5 and 9.0
HCLSoftware announced End of Support for HCL Digital Experience versions 8.5 and 9, effective June 30, 2025. Customers are encouraged to upgrade to HCL Digital Experience version 9.5, released in a continuous delivery model. Refer to the Deprecated features page for more information.
To accommodate the customers who might be unable to update from DX versions 8.5 and 9.0 to DX version 9.5 by that date, customers can sign up for Extended Support. For more information, see the article Starting on August 30, 2024, Extended Support will be available for HCL Digital Experience V8.5.x and 9.
Automatically apply 9.5 from a later CF installation
In CF219, a feature was introduced where DX version 9.5 is automatically applied to an 8.5 or 9.0 installation if the configuration setting install_95=true is set. Note that a later CF might apply 9.5 by default unless you set install_95=false. This statement is not a guarantee of future releases or their features.
Digital Experience 9.5 Container Version
Customizing HAProxy logs
The DX Helm chart now supports an additive logging approach for HAProxy deployments. This feature allows you to append custom HAProxy variables for Layer 4 (TCP) and Layer 7 (HTTP) traffic (such as client IPs or SSL cipher suites) directly to the baseline log lines without changing the core format. The architecture also includes an automated validation fallback feature to protect the deployment from pod crashes if the custom configuration contains syntax errors. For more information, refer to HAProxy logging configuration.
Helm values updates
Helm value properties in HCL DX that were added, removed, deprecated, or changed for this release are documented in DX Helm values updates.
New parameters for runtimeController automatic service account token mounting
Two new Helm parameters are now available to support cluster security policies that restrict automatic service account token mounting:
- The
automountServiceAccountTokenparameter allows explicit configuration of token mounting per component. If your environment prohibits token automounting, set this parameter tofalseto revoke token access. - The
configuration.runtimeController.projectedServiceAccountTokenparameter specifies settings for projected token volumes inruntimeController. If token automounting is disabled, setenabledtotrueto supply a projected token volume and maintain Kubernetes API access.
For configuration details and examples, refer to Managing service account token automounting.
Search V2 - Open-source Enchanted Web Components
Atomic Components used within Search V2 are now open source as part of the Enchanted Web Components library. This update renames the component prefix from dx- to enchanted- and connects you directly to the public Storybook repository for interactive component APIs, properties, and testing playgrounds. The Search V2 documentation is also streamlined to show only the components utilized by the feature and now includes definitions for CSS shadow parts, allowing you to use ::part() selectors to apply custom styles to the components. For more information, refer to the following topics:
