Datasets overview
A dataset contains variable data that are used by a test at test run time. The variable data is contained in rows for a specific parameter that is contained in columns. You can decide whether you want to use the dataset associated with the test to be used at run time or override that associated dataset with another dataset at run time.
You can create a dataset in your project in HCL OneTest™ Server, that has the same column names as in the associated dataset but different values in the same rows. You can choose to override the associated dataset with the dataset you create in the server project. At test run time, the values from the associated dataset are replaced with the values in the dataset that you create.
-
Only a project Owner or a project member whose role is a Tester can view and edit the dataset.
-
To view the content of an encrypted dataset, you must provide an encryption key that you set while encrypting the dataset column.
-
As a Viewer, when you try to access the datasets, an error message is displayed because you do not have the permission to view the datasets.
You can create a dataset in HCL OneTest™ Server by using any of the following method:
-
Empty dataset
-
CSV file
