Understanding the charts
Charts are essential tools for visualizing data and managing projects. You can use Gantt and timeline charts for project management based on availability in different schemas.
A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart that represents a project schedule. Gantt charts display the start and finish dates of the various project elements.
In DevOps Plan 3.0.3 or earlier releases, Gantt chart was displaying work items in a tree structure based on the parent-child relationship. In DevOps Plan 3.0.4 release, the Parent-Child and Related tabs are added. The Parent-Child tab view displays work items in a tree structure based on the parent-child relationship. In the Related tab view, Gantt chart displays a hierarchy based on related work item connections. Switch between these two tabs to visualize and manage your work items.
Timeline charts are linear representations of events in chronological order. Use them to visualize a sequence of events over time.
The availability of Gantt and timeline charts depends on the schema type. Some schemas have only Gantt charts, some have only timeline charts, and some have both. For example, the Agile schema type has both charts, but the HR Solutions schema has only the timeline chart.
