Installing the ClearTeam® Explorer Extension

The IBM® ClearTeam® Explorer Extension feature enables users to install the ClearTeam® Explorer into DevOps Software Delivery Platform products.

Before you begin

Before you begin installing the ClearTeam® Explorer Extension, you must determine which installation method your site is using. Depending on the deployment strategy for your site, you can install a ClearTeam® Explorer Extension offering that includes the Installation Manager and the extension offering in one package. Alternatively, you can install Installation Manager separately and point to a ClearTeam® Explorer Extension repository to install the client. Check with your DevOps Code ClearCase® administrator to determine which strategy you should use.

About this task

If you are installing the ClearTeam® Explorer Extension offering using one of the following scenarios, refer to the relevant scenario described in Installation scenarios.
  • Installing from a downloaded electronic image on your workstation
  • Installing from an electronic image on a shared drive
  • Installing from a repository on an HTTP or HTTPS web server

If you are installing Installation Manager and ClearTeam® Explorer Extension offering separately, complete the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Check with your DevOps Code ClearCase® Administrator to determine the ClearTeam® Explorer Extension repository location.
  2. Download and install the Installation Manager and get the latest updates (see IBM Installation Manager tasks for information about installing Installation Manager or the IBM® Installation Manager Support Download page on the IBM® website to find the latest available version of the Installation Manager).
  3. Start Installation Manager (Start > Programs > IBM Installation Manager > IBM Installation Manager).
  4. Add the ClearTeam® Explorer Extension repository to the Installation Manager repository list:
    1. Click File > Preferences.
    2. Click Add Repository and enter the repository location, then click OK.
    3. Click OK to exit the Preferences window and return to the IBM Installation Manager Start page.
  5. Install the ClearTeam® Explorer Extension:
    1. On the IBM Installation Manager Start page, click Install.
    2. On the Install Packages page, select the current version for the IBM ClearTeam® Explorer extension.
    3. On the Install Packages Prerequisites page, click Next.
    4. On the Install Packages Licenses page, if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms in the license agreements and click Next. If you do not accept the license terms, click I do not accept the terms in the license agreements, which terminates the installation process.
    5. On the Install Packages Location page, verify the Installation Directory location and click Next.
    6. On the Install Packages Features page, verify that the IBM ClearTeam® Explorer extension feature is selected and click Next.
    7. On the Install Packages Summary page, verify that the IBM ClearTeam® Explorer extension package is displayed in the Packages section, and click Install.

What to do next

Open the DevOps Software Delivery Platform product into which you have installed the IBM ClearTeam® Explorer Extension and open the ClearCase® Explorer perspective. You should see the ClearCase menu in the menu bar of your DevOps Software Delivery Platform product.

To begin using the ClearTeam® Explorer, you must create a view. If you are using base ClearCase®, you must create a base view or, if you are using ClearCase® with UCM, you must create a UCM view. Refer to the Developing section for more information.
