An administrator typically sets up license server hosts, administers license keys and establishes license use policies. Users typically configure licensing on their own computers when they install DevOps Code ClearCase®.

An administrator typically sets up license server hosts, administers license keys and establishes license use policies. Users typically configure licensing on their own computers when they install DevOps Code ClearCase®.

Most DevOps Code ClearCase applications and commands (cleartool commands, for example, or GUIs such as the DevOps ClearCase Explorer) require a license to run. DevOps Code ClearCase can use IBM Common Licensing, which is based on the FLEXlm license management tool from GLOBEtrotter Software, Inc. and ClearCase Licensing, a proprietary licensing scheme.

Notes:

IBM Common Licensing is not available to customers using ClearCase when it is provided by HCL. You can use IBM Common Licensing if ClearCase is provided by IBM.
ClearCase Licensing is available when using ClearCase provided by IBM or HCL.
