Installing
To install HCL Connections™, you need to follow a detailed series of procedures.
Optional: Installing and configuring Tiny Editors for HCL Connections
The Tiny editors are alternative rich-text editors which can be installed for HCL Connections™. They provide additional features and extensive customization options not available with the default editor.
Installing Tiny Editors for HCL Connections
Install the Tiny editors: TinyMCE and Textbox.io, to get a powerful editing experience inside HCL Connections™ with a streamlined user-interface and unparalleled customization.

This section covers the installation of the Tiny Editors for HCL Connections integration package, providing TinyMCE and Textbox.io for HCL Connections™.

  - The installation process
    Review the steps that are required to install HCL Connections.
  - Pre-installation tasks
    Complete the following tasks before installing HCL Connections. If you are migrating from a prior release of HCL Connections, do not complete the tasks for creating databases or populating the Profiles database. The migration process handles those tasks automatically.
  - Installing HCL Connections
    Select the HCL Connections applications that you plan to use and install them in a clustered deployment.

    After installation, you need to perform further tasks to ensure an efficient deployment.

      - Optional: Installing Tiny Editors Selector
        The Tiny Editors Selector is a WebSphere application which allows the editor to be set for each user or role. This task can be skipped if you want to use the same editor for all users.
      - Optional: Installing Tiny Editors Services
        The Tiny Editors Services provide the following functionality for the Tiny Editors: spellchecking, link checking, and automatic embedding linked media. This task can be skipped if the spellchecking, link checking, and embed media features are not required.
      - Installing the Tiny Editors integration
        This section covers the installation of the Tiny Editors for HCL Connections integration package, providing TinyMCE and Textbox.io for HCL Connections™.
        Configuring the Tiny Editors integration
        The editors can be customized prior to installation by modifying the config/config.js file in the extracted Tiny Editors for HCL Connections package.
        Selecting an editor
        This option is used to select the editor for HCL Connections™. If the Tiny Editors Selector service is installed, you can choose to assign the editor based on user or security group.

        Assigning an editor to users or roles is performed by configuring the Tiny Editors Selector service. This step can also be done after installation of Tiny Editors for HCL Connections is complete.

        Assigning the editor priority is performed by configuring the Tiny Editors Selector service. This step can also be done after the installation of Tiny Editors for HCL Connections is complete.
        Modify the Editor CSS
        Customizing the look of HCL Connections™ using custom CSS.
        Change Spelling Service URL
        If the Tiny Editor Services are not running on the same server as HCL Connections™, the spelling service URL is required.
        Enable or Disable Spellchecking
        This section describes the process for enabling and disabling the use of the Tiny Editors Services spelling service.
        Change Link Service URL
        If the Tiny Editor Services are not running on the same server as HCL Connections™, the link service URL is required.
        Enable or Disable Link Validation
        This section describes the process for enabling and disabling the Tiny Editors use of the Tiny Editors Services hyperlinking service for link validation.
        Enable or Disable Link Embedding
        This section describes the process for enabling and disabling automatic media embedding in the Tiny Editors.
        Customize the Toolbar
        The section covers customizing the Tiny Editors toolbar (not including contextual items).

Set Fontpicker fonts list

The section covers customizing the list of fonts provided for the font-picker in the Tiny Editors.

Procedure

Using a plain text editor, open config/config.js in the extracted Tiny Editors for HCL Connections package.
Note: Use a plain text editor to avoid inserting invalid formatting or symbols into config.js. Do not use a rich text editor such as Microsoft Word for editing configuration files.
Locate the property fonts and modify the array to customize the fonts list configuration using the following resources:
If the font list array is empty (fonts: [],) the default list will be used.
Continue configuring the Tiny Editors integration or continue with the installation.
