Find out what's new in your network and the wider organization using the activity stream
views available from the home page.
About this task
You can use the activity stream views to filter the latest news stories and updates from
across Connectionsc. The updates are in list format, making
it easy for you to scan through the entries and identify important updates. An icon next to each
update identifies which app the update is associated with.
Procedure
You can check for the latest news stories and work with
updates in the following ways:
- Use the activity stream options available from the navigation
sidebar to filter your updates and display different types of information
in the activity stream. Select one of the following views, and then
use the Filter By options available for that
view to display the updates that you care about.

Updates |
- I'm Following: Displays updates related to the
people and content that you are following. Click Stop following under an
update if you no longer want to get the latest updates for a specific person or piece of
content.
- Status Updates: Displays the latest status update messages from across
your organization.
- Discover: Displays the latest public updates
from all the apps.

My Notifications |
Displays the latest notifications that you received and sent. Also displays the number of
unread items in the For Me and @mention
views. |
@Mentions |
Displays messages that mention you directly. |
Action Required |
Displays your latest to-do items from Activities, network and community invitations, requests to join moderated communities, and any third-party events
that require action on your part. |
Saved |
Displays the updates that you saved. |
My Page |
Select this option when you want to view the latest updates using apps rather than in list
format. |
Administration |
Select this option when you want to perform administrative tasks for the Home page. This
option only displays for users who have been assigned the administrator role. |
- To show that you like an update or a comment
on a status update, click Like.
You
can tell how many people liked an update or comment from the number
that displays next to the
Like Icon. Click the icon
to see who liked the update or comment.
- To comment on an update, hover over the update
and click Comment. Enter your comment in the
field, and then click Post.
Tips:
- To mention a colleague in your comment and share the comment directly
with them, enter the at (@) symbol followed by the person's name,
and then select the person's name from the drop-down list. When you
post the comment, the person's name is linked to their profile. A
message is also posted to the person's profile to inform them that
you mentioned them.
- When you include URLs in your comments, they are automatically
converted to hyperlinks.
- To delete a comment that you added, hover over the comment,
click the Delete comment Icon, and click Delete.
- To save an update for following up later, hover over the
update and click Save this.
You
can retrieve your saved updates later by selecting Saved from
the navigation sidebar.
- To stop receiving updates about an item or person, click Stop
following.
- To access more options for working with an update, hover
over the update and click it.
The options that you see
depend on the type of update you are looking at. For example, to share
a status update with the people who are following you, click Repost.
To close the window, click the X icon or click
anywhere outside the window.
What to do next
- Click Customize to add apps and bring extra function to your home
page.
- Tell people what you are doing by updating your personal status

- Check for recommended content in the Recommendations app. The app suggests content that might
interest you, based on your existing community membership, network connections, and tags. For more

- Bookmark the page views that you visit most often so that you
can navigate directly to them later.
