Customizing server resources (ts-openliberty)

Customize Open Liberty Server configurations in your local workspace repository instead of modifying files on the running server instance.

About this task

Just as EAR resources are managed using a source-controlled delta approach, customize Open Liberty Server configurations locally. Server configuration files (such as server.xml, datasources.xml, concurrent.xml, and jvm.options) define the operating environment for Commerce+ Transaction Server. Modifying changes in your local workspace tracks configurations in source control and persists them across builds.

Procedure

  1. Locate the configuration file to update.

In your IDE, navigate to your local workspace project, such as src/projects/ts-openliberty/. Locate the specific XML or properties file to modify, such as server.xml, datasources.xml, or concurrent.xml.

  2. Modify the local configuration file.

Edit the local configuration file to add your required changes, such as adjusting thread pools, connection pools, or cache sizes.

  3. Deploy the changes to the server.

Rebuild the ts-openliberty module to package and copy updated configuration files to your running Open Liberty Server instance. From the root directory of the project, run the following command:

    ./mvnw install -pl src/projects/ts-openliberty -P toolkit,build
Tip: If you have not built dependencies recently, append -am to the command.
  4. Verify the changes on the server instance.

Confirm that your updated configuration is active. Restart Open Liberty Server if necessary. Although the server dynamically reloads some configurations, structural or JVM updates require a server restart.
