Setting up shared assets for Extended Sites

Use the B2B direct storefront asset store view of the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to set up global marketing campaigns to be shared across all the B2B direct Extended Sites. Use the Consumer direct storefront asset store view of the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to set up global marketing campaigns to be shared across all the Consumer direct Extended Sites.

You have the option of either setting up shared campaigns so that they always appear on the Extended Site storefronts or creating typical campaigns that the Extended Sites could adopt at their discretion.

There are some limitations when creating global as opposed to individual-store marketing campaigns:

  • Global campaigns may not be targeted to customer segments associated with a particular account, nor can particular accounts be excluded.
  • No activity sharing rules may be imposed on e-Marketing Spots.

Use the B2B direct storefront asset store view of the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to create base contracts that have a shareable set of terms and conditions. For example, certain industries or customer segments may have a common set of terms and conditions that are applicable to all contracts that are created for customers in those industries or segments. A Sales Manager can create a base segment contract that contains this common set of terms and conditions. Every contract that is created for customers in those industries can then see this base segment contract and hence include all the terms and conditions from the segment contract in addition to its own.

Notes:

  • The segment contract is not copied but is instead used by reference by each of the customer contracts. Therefore, if the segment contract is changed, then all customer contracts that reference the segment contract will immediately reflect the new terms and conditions.
  • Since the assumption is that a segment contract is created and deployed by a Sales Manager, no approval is required for such a contract.

Use the Catalog asset store view of the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to create a master catalog that will be shared among all the Extended Sites. Products specific to an enterprise customer or a geography are left out of the master catalog and created at the individual Extended Sites. Additionally, each Extended Site may be configured to show only parts of the master catalog and apply price adjustments.

Adding views to your storefront asset store

If you need to add new pages to your storefront and the storefront is shared across all Extended Sites, it is recommended that you create those assets in the storefront asset store. For example, you can create the assets in the Consumer direct storefront asset store or the B2B direct storefront asset store. If a new page only applies to an individual Extended Site, create the page on the Extended Site only. For more information about adding views, see Creating a new view.
