Administering WebSphere Commerce search
For a fully functioning WebSphere Commerce search implementation, you must understand and complete the search administration tasks which include deployment, search index management, and ongoing maintenance.
Deploying the search server
You can deploy WebSphere Commerce search in the standard or advanced configurations, depending on your environment. The exception to this is the WebSphere Commerce Authoring environment, which can only be deployed in the embedded configuration.

WebSphere Commerce search is deployed in the development environment (embedded configuration) by default. It is then deployed in the standard configuration as a local deployment, or in the advanced configuration as a remote deployment.
