Configuring and managing device charts

Use the Configure chart pane on the Device Explorer – List view page to build custom visualizations from device inventory data. After you create a chart, you can edit it, delete it, view its data as a table, or hide the whole Charts section.

About this task

The collapsible Charts section on the Device Explorer – List view page creates and displays custom visualizations from device inventory data. A badge next to the title, such as 0 charts set or 1 chart set, shows how many charts are defined.

Procedure

  1. In the Charts section, select Add chart.

    The Configure chart pane opens. All fields are mandatory.

  2. In Chart's name, enter a descriptive name that identifies the chart.
  3. From the Chart's Property dropdown, select the device property to visualize, such as OS, CPU, or device type.

    The dropdown lists all available properties.

  4. From the Chart type dropdown, select the visual format: Horizontal chart, Vertical chart, or Pie chart.
  5. Select Create chart.

    This button stays dimmed until you complete all required fields. To close the pane without saving, select Cancel.

    The chart appears as a tile in the Charts section, showing the chart name and the property it visualizes, such as Property: OS Family. A NEW badge marks a recently added chart. If the selected property has no data, the tile shows No Data Available.

Results

The chart is available in the Charts section. Charts are interactive and work with the device list table. For the steps to filter the device list table from a chart, see Filtering devices from a chart.

What to do next

After you create a chart, you can manage it in the following ways.

  • To add another chart, select Add chart or the empty Add chart placeholder tile.
  • To edit or delete a chart, select the More options icon on the chart tile and then select Edit or Delete.
  • To delete several charts, select the checkbox on each tile, or select Select All, and then select Delete chart.
  • To view a chart's data as a table that you can copy or export, select the See data in data table format with download options icon in the tile's top-right corner. For more information, see Viewing chart data in a table.
  • To hide the Charts section, select the collapse icon (upward arrow).
