Downloading binaries with the Oracle download manager

Use the Oracle download manager Fixlet to download an Oracle binary and upload it to the BigFix server when the vendor requires MFA.

Procedure

  1. In the BigFix console, open the Oracle download manager Fixlet.
  2. On the Description tab, complete the Select Vendor and Software Versions form:
    Field Value
BigFix URL Enter the BigFix server URL.
BigFix Username Enter the console username.
    BigFix Password Enter the password.
Vendor Select the vendor (for example, Oracle).
Software / Version Select the software and the release you want.
Important: Enter your BigFix console password.
  3. Select the release you want.
The utility supports the current release and the two prior releases (N, N-1, and N-2).
  4. Click Take Action to run the Fixlet.
  5. When the browser window opens, sign in with your Oracle account and complete the MFA (two-factor authentication) challenge.

Results

After you authenticate, the utility downloads the binary to the client machine and then uses the BigFix REST API to upload it to the server's uploads folder (for example, C:\Program Files\Enterprise Server\root\b\uploads). Once the file is on the server, the relevant patch Fixlets such as those for Oracle Database (OPatch/database updates) or Oracle WebLogic can use it.
