Data Export for Data Analysis
Unica Discover Data Export enables flexible export and fluid integration of Discover session data to any external business application to create multi-channel perspectives of your visitors' experience.
Editing tasks or creating new tasks
When you choose to edit or create a task, you must provide name, schedule, source, and destination information, as well as any content filtering or notification options.

Through the Data Filters tab, you can specify whether to include or exclude types of data that is part of the Discover session dataset.

  - Data Export overview
    Unica Discover Data Export provides you with the ability to analyze and report on data captured by Discover within various third-party solutions, including custom reporting tools and databases, warehouses, business intelligence environments, and web analytics products. Additionally, Unica Discover Data Export enables the creation of a persistent store of session data from your web applications.

      Through the Discover Portal, you can configure tasks to be run according to schedule by Unica Discover Data Export.

        Using the General tab, you can configure several elements of a task, including the name, description, scheduling information, daily extraction option, and post command.
      - Processing Servers tab
        In the Processing Servers tab, you can specify the Unica Discover Servers from which to extract data. The list of available servers identifies all servers managing Long-Term Canisters in the environment.
      - Data Set tab
        In the Data Set tab, you can specify search criteria to apply to the available session data for the selected time period. Additionally, you can specify custom commands to extract the data and to run after the task was completed.

        Data filters example:
      - Destination tab
        In the Destination tab, you can select and specify the connection information of the destination for the extract.
      - Notification tab
        In the Notification tab, you can define specific email addresses to receive notification about the status of this task when it is completed, successful or not..
      - Job performance
        Depending on the volume of sessions that are extracted in a job, the extraction process might take multiple hours to complete. You can try the following options to improve performance:
    - Time values in Data Export
      Discover records multiple time values, or timestamps, during the process of a visitor making a request, the web server evaluating it and returning a response, and the response being rendered in the client browser.
    - Data file integration example
      This example uses the data files integration method of Unica Discover Data Export to extract specific URLs, URL Fields, and Cookies and import this data into the Data Files temporary database.
    - Data Export scheduling tasks
      Through the Portal, you can monitor your scheduled Unica Discover Data Export tasks.
    - Scheduled Tasks window
      In the Scheduled Tasks window, you can review the tasks that were scheduled to run, initiated, or completed.
    - Context menu
      When you select a task and select the three dots in the last column of the task row, you will see the following options:
    - Task execution
      At the scheduled time, Unica Discover Data Export runs the specified task. At the time of execution, Unica Discover Data Export requires that basic Unica Discover services, such as Search Server be available. Additionally, the Discover Extractor Service must be operational.
    - Discover Event Bus
      The Event Bus streams Discover event data from the Short Term Canister, the in-memory database, to a Discover pipeline. The pipeline can then deliver the event data to any system configured to receive it. The ability to send the event data as a stream in real time makes the event bus useful for integrating with real-time systems.

Data Filters tab

Through the Data Filters tab, you can specify whether to include or exclude types of data that is part of the Discover session dataset.

Before the extractor writes to the database or log file, the data is filtered based on the criteria you specify in this tab.

Types of Filters:

Include All - Include all data specified for this type of data from the extract.
Exclude All - Exclude all data specified for this type of data from the extract.
Include Specific - Include specific session data matching the comma-separated criteria you specify in the textbox below.
Exclude Specific - Exclude specific session data matching the comma-separated criteria you specify in the textbox below.

Types of Filtered Data

URLs - Hits can be filtered by URL.
HTTP status code - Hits can be filtered by the status code returned by the server.
URL Fields - URL Fields can be filtered by the URL Field name.
cookies - Cookies can be filtered by the cookie name.
appdata - App Data can be filters by their name.
Event ID - Events can be filtered by the Event ID.
Client Side Events - Events captured and submitted by Unica Discover UI SDK.
Mobile Events - Events captured and submitted by one of the client frameworks and split into individual hits in the Windows™ pipeline. See "JSON Mobile Parser Session Agent" in the Unica Discover Configuration Manual.
Note: Mobile events cannot be captured from step-based events.

Note: Event information is recorded in the session when it is passed through the Canister. You cannot apply filters for events that were created after the session was evaluated in the Canister.
