About this task

When Manage Services is started for the first time, the following steps are performed.

Procedure

  1. Manage Services master server:
    1. Manage Services Datastore is created.
    2. Data dictionary is loaded from DMSManifest.dll.
    3. Manage Services performs a discovery of components & configurations on the Manage Services master server.
    4. Manage Services master server starts listening for requests.
  2. All Manage Services slave servers:
    1. Manage Services slave servers attempt to contact the Manage Services master.
    2. If the connection attempt fails:
      1. The connection is retried every 10 seconds.
      2. An error is logged every 5 minutes until the connection is successful.
    3. Manage Services Datastore is created.
    4. Slave server requests data from the Manage Services master server.
    5. Manage Services performs a discovery of components & configurations on the Manage Services slave server. Newly discovered items are forwarded to the Manage Services master for updating.
    6. Slave server begins listening for requests.
