Managing a calendar definition from the UI

This topic shows how to manage a calendar.

About this task

The purpose of the following scenario is to show how to create a calendar in the context of an example.

Angela is a HCL Universal Orchestrator user and she is responsible for internal communication in her Company. Every Monday, Angela sends a newsletter that contains business updates and news to employees. A big marketing campaign is planned for Tuesday, November 26, 2024. To celebrate the occasion, Angela decides to send a newsletter dedicated to the campaign, with interviews to managers, board members and everyone involved in the making, exceptionally on that Tuesday. Therefore, she needs to create a calendar to make the wf_newsletter_1 workflow run during that particular day that the run cycle does not define.

Procedure

  1. Create a calendar:
    1. In the Graphical Designer page, from the Assets tab, click Add new.
    2. From the drop-down menu, select Calendar.
    3. In Name, type the name Campaign_celebration.
    4. In Date selection, select the day 26th of November.
    5. Click Add.
  2. Add the calendar to the wf_newsletter_1 workflow:
    1. Using the map, go to the workspace area where the wf_newsletter_1 workflow is placed.
    1. From the Assets tab, in the search bar, type Campaign.
    2. Expand the Calendar menu, and then drag the Campaign_celebration calendar into the wf_newsletter_1 workflow in the workspace.
  3. Deploy the workspace.

Results

You created a calendar that makes the workflow run on November 26, 2024 as an exception.
