The Welcome Page
The Welcome Page serves as the initial home screen upon logging into HCL Discover, featuring a customizable Favorites section and a static Dashboard.
The Welcome Page is divided into two primary structural areas designed to optimize navigation and data visibility: the Favorites interface and the Dashboard.
Favorites Section
The Favorites section allows users to curate shortcuts to their most frequently accessed system resources. Initially empty, this area can hold up to 12 customizable tiles (widgets). The configuration options are categorized into two types:
- Dashboards: Direct links to full dashboards that are accessible to users.
- Features: Direct links to specific structural features that are
accessible to the users:
- Manage Events
- Search Completed
- Search Active
- Search All
- Report Builder
- Dashboard List
- Usability
- Event Monitor
- Alert Monitor
Dashboard Section
The lower half of the Welcome Page houses the global system Dashboard. Unlike the Favorites section, this area is static and displays standardized operational reports visible to all application users. The core default metrics include:
- Friction Level: A visual mapping tracking metrics related to system friction or user obstacles.
- Total Sessions: A bar chart tracking active user sessions across specific calendar dates.
Start Page Removal and Migration Behavior
The "Start Page" option has been entirely removed from the user configuration panels, group properties, general application settings, and "My Settings".
To support migrated users who previously configured a custom start page set to default dashboard, HCL Discover implements an automatic mapping rule: If a user group's start page was mapped to a default dashboard, and that default dashboard exists within the system's management configurations, a corresponding tile is automatically pinned to the user's Favorites layout on their initial login.
