How can the scheduler help you recover jobs?
The scheduler supports automatic recovery by having its own job statements that take effect when a job fails: these job statements look like comments to z/OS® and JES.
For jobs tracked on a z/OS® system, HCL Workload Automation for Z also notices when the catalog has been updated by a job and is able to undo the catalog updates (step by step, if required) to the point before the job ran, for all data sets allocated with job control language (JCL) DD statements. This facility is called restart and cleanup. For example, when a job creates a data set, a rerun often fails because the data set already exists. With cleanup active for the job, HCL Workload Automation for Z uncatalogs and deletes the data set before resubmitting the job.
