Defining a line of business

You can use Folders to define a line of business and then create workstations in the appropriate folder

About this task

The purpose of the following scenario is to show how to create folders and define workstations in the context of an example.

The scope of the scenario is to create a line of business for monitoring the active mortgages of a bank. The jobs and job streams run in a distributed environment with a master domain Manager called MDM_ROME located in the folder ROME and a dynamic agent located in the folder LONDON called DYNAG_LONDON. The mortgages are organized in different folders that are named according to the year of the mortgage loan was opened.

Procedure

  1. Create the folder and the master domain manager for the Rome location:
    1. From the Design menu, click Workload Designer page, and then select the engine.
    2. In Explore area, click Create new + and choose Folder.
    3. In General Info, type the name ROME.
  2. Create folders for mortgage loan openings
    1. In Explore area, click Create new + and choose Folder.
    2. In General Info, type the name 2021
  3. Define a Master Domain Manager for the central branch of the bank located in Rome:
    1. In Explore area, click Create new + and choose Workstation.
    2. in the Workstation properties panel, select master domain manager to define the primary Workstation.
    3. in Folder, type ROME
    4. In Name, type MDM_ROME
  4. Create a Folder for the location LONDON
    1. Select Create new + and choose Folder.
    2. In In General Info, type the name LONDON
  5. Define a Dynamic Agent for the London location:
    1. Select Create new + and choose Workstation.
    2. In Folder, type LONDON
    3. In Name, type DYNAG_LONDON

Results

You have now defined a line of business for monitoring the mortgages of the different branches of a bank based on the location.
