Using a new Compare/Merge provider

Use the Compare/Merge preferences to specify a new Compare/Merge Provider.

Procedure

  1. To use a new, external Compare/Merge Provider, select the Window > Preferences > Team > HCL VersionVault Explorer > Integration > Compare/Merge option.
  2. To specify an external provider as the default Compare/Merge Provider for any file, click the Use this tool as the default option list and select the provider.
  3. To override the compare/merge provider for a specific file type (by extension or type manager), take the following actions:
    1. Click the Override the default tool for the following types button.
    2. Click on the Add button. The currently selected Use this tool as the default option appears in the table.
    3. Select a Resource Type, either by file extension or by type manager, from the Use this tool as the default option list. You can also provide custom extensions or type manager names not listed in the option list.
  4. Select a Resource Type, either by file extension or by type manager, from the Use this tool as the default option list. You can also provide custom extensions or type manager names not listed in the drop down.
  5. Select a Compare Provider or Merge Provider or both.
  6. Select a Preprocessor Provider, if necessary.
  7. Click Apply to confirm the changes you’ve specified.
