Resolving disagreements (discordance) between a view and the VersionVault WAN server

When a resource in a VersionVault view is in an unknown state, it means there is a disagreement between the VersionVault WAN server and a web view or automatic view about the state of the resource. You must restore the resource to resolve the disagreement.

Before you begin

Discordances can affect a web view to a greater extent than an automatic view because automatic views are largely self-repairing. Dynamic and snapshot views are not subject to discordances.

About this task

Discordance can be introduced when the client, the server, or the network that connects them shuts down abruptly, or when resources in a VersionVault view are modified without first being checked out or have been hijacked and modified. Resources affected by discordance are listed in the VersionVault Details view with a State of Discordant.

Use the Restore Resources operation to correct discordance.

Procedure

  1. Select the resources that you want to restore.
You can select individual resources or an entire VersionVault view. (Restoring a resource that is not in an unknown state has no effect on the resource.)
  2. To open the Restore Resources dialog box, take either of the following actions:
    • Select Refresh > Repair Discordance from the VersionVault menu.
    • Right-click on the discordant resources and select Refresh > Repair Discordance from the element context menu or right-click on the name of the view that contains the discordant resources and select Refresh > Repair > Discordance from the context menu.
  3. Specify restore options in the dialog box and then click Apply.
