The HCL VersionVault registry is a central repository of information about shared resources such as VOBs and views.

Registry data for most common operations is managed automatically. Other operations can require an administrator to create, remove, or modify registry data.

Tags are typically created, removed, or modified when you rename a VOB or view or change its network access information.

About this task

Use the HCL VersionVault Administration Console or cleartool mktag to add, remove, or modify tags for existing VOBs and views. These are the common reasons to add or replace a tag:

Creating additional tags in other regions
Renaming a VOB or view (a VOB or view’s name is synonymous with its tag)
Converting a private VOB to a public VOB or vice versa
Any reason cited in Registering a VOB or view

To change the information in a tag, use the HCL VersionVault Administration Console to remove the tag and create a new one, or use the cleartool rmtag and mktag commands.
