VOB and view access control
HCL VersionVault supports a rich set of access controls on versioned objects.
ACL authorization
If access control list (ACL) authorization is enabled, the identities and protection modes for some object types are administered through policies, which define permissions for roles; and rolemaps, which map the roles to principals.
Element protection
The ability to protect directory and file elements with ACLs greatly simplifies authorization administration. The simplification uses multiple groups in element effective ACLs in place of multiple groups in each user's credentials.

Storage pool directories in ACLs-enabled VOBs are protected in the same way as in non-ACLs-enabled VOBs.

Storage pool directories in ACLs-enabled VOBs are protected in the same way as in non-ACLs-enabled VOBs.

The storage directory is protected based on the umask of the creating user. The pool directories are protected as writable to the VOB owner and readable by all other users. If you change the storage directory protection, you must ensure that all authorized VOB users have access to look up file names through the storage directory and the pool directories.
