Installing from a repository on an HTTP or HTTPS web server

In this scenario, IBM Installation Manager retrieves the product packages from an HTTP or HTTPS web server.

Before you begin

These steps assume that the repository that contains the package for the product has been created on the HTTP or HTTPS web server.

Procedure

To install the product package from a repository on an HTTP or HTTPS server:

For Linux™: Increase the number of file handles on your workstation. For details, see Increasing the number of file handles on Linux workstations.
Install IBM Installation Manager. See Installation Manager tasks.
In this example, the Installation Manager installation files are available from a shared drive.
Start Installation Manager. For details, see Starting Installation Manager.
In Installation Manager, set the URL of the repository that contains the package of the product as a repository preference. See Setting repository preferences.
In Installation Manager, start the Installation wizard and follow the instructions to complete the installation. For details, see Installing the product package using the Installation Manager GUI.
