Administering HCL VersionVault
Learn about performing administrative tasks for an HCL VersionVault community including managing software licenses, user and group accounts, VersionVault server and client hosts, shared data, and the network that connects them.
Administering and using CMI task-provider integrations
HCL VersionVault supports integrations with task providers such as HCL Compass through the Change Management Interface (CMI). The integrations require some configuration tasks, after which you can work with UCM activities or base VersionVault branches that are associated with the tasks.

Before anyone can use CMI, you must configure it for the task provider that you intend to use.

From time to time, you may need to review and update CMI configuration parameters. You should review the CMI log regularly for evidence of problems.

    You can configure an HCL VersionVault host running Linux® or the UNIX system to support access to VOBs and dynamic views from computers that do not run HCL VersionVault.

    If you can estimate the number of elements, versions, and derived objects that a VOB will ultimately contain, you can compute a very rough estimate of the size of a VOB that can accommodate them. VOB storage includes a database and pools. On Windows®, the database and pools must reside on a single disk partition. On Linux® or the UNIX system, the pools can be located on a different partition or host, using symbolic links.

Routine administration tasks

From time to time, you may need to review and update CMI configuration parameters. You should review the CMI log regularly for evidence of problems.

To update CM configuration parameters, use the mkcmprovider command with the -replace option. Refer to the mkcmprovider reference page for details.
To delete CM providers, use the rmprovider command (see the reference page).
To list information about CM providers, use the lsprovider command (see the reference page).
CMI errors may indicate configuration or Change Management operation errors. Because some errors can cause discordance between HCL VersionVault and RTC, you should review the CMI log regularly and resolve the problems that caused the errors. CMI messages are logged in versionvault-home-dir\var\log\cmi.log (Windows) or /var/adm/hcl/versionvault/log/cmi_log (UNIX/Linux). All VersionVault users must have write permission to the log directory.
