Installing VersionVault Automatic View Client

You can install Automatic View Client to start using the workspace immediately, without waiting to be populated with any files.

About this task

Some of the key features of the automatic views are instant workspace creation, fetch files when they are first needed, optimizing performance, minimizing disk space usage, and instant view updates.

Note: The automatic views are part of the VersionVault Remote Client environment. They do not run any privileged processes, such as the albd server, and do not require that the client system be a member of a corporate identity management domain.

Procedure

Note: Before you install the VersionVault Automatic View Client component, ensure that none of the VersionVault applications are running.

Note: VersionVault install will fail unless you disable the antivirus protection, which the Installation Manager asks you to do before you start the install.

Start the Installation Manager application. Navigate to File > Preferences, and select Add Repository. Enter the path to the repository that is the location where the repository zip was unpacked, such as the parent directory of repository.config. The path can be remote, or local.
Select the applicable VersionVault version for Windows. Click Next, and accept the license.
Accept the default installation directory, or specify another path. Click Next to select the language.
Select Automatic View Client in the Features window.
- If you only want VersionVault Remote Client with Automatic View Client support to be installed, select only the Automatic View Client component.
In the Common Configurations/Common Licensing window, accept the license server information set up by the administrator of the application.
In the Service Account window, select your domain account and enter your credentials. Click Next.
In the MVFS window, accept the default values for the drives.
Click Install, and reboot after the installation succeeds.
Note: Enable back the antivirus protection.
