  - Upgrade Overview
    An upgrade of Unica Plan is complete when you upgrade, configure, and deploy Unica Plan. The Unica Plan Upgrade Guide provides detailed information about upgrading, configuring, and deploying Unica Plan.
  - Planning Plan upgrade
    For upgrading to Unica Plan 12.1.11 version, you must check from which version you are upgrading. Upgrade scenarios are based on the current version of the Unica Plan.
    - Prerequisites
      Before you install or upgrade any Unica product, you must ensure that your computer complies with all of the prerequisite software and hardware.
    - Prerequisites for all Marketing Software products
      Meet all requirements for permissions, operating system, and knowledge correctly before you upgrade Plan to ensure a seamless upgrade experience.
    - Running database query for cleanup
      Before you upgrade Unica Plan, run the database query to remove duplicate project request ids, if any.
    - Error logs and warning messages
      When you upgrade, the system logs the messages that are produced during the process. View the log files to see any informational or error messages that occurred during upgrade.
    - Upgrading with existing campaign projects or requests
      If you upgrade Unica Plan system that is integrated with Unica Campaign and you have existing campaign projects without corresponding linked campaigns, create the linked campaigns before you upgrade to Unica Plan. Likewise, if you have existing project requests for campaign projects, accept or reject the requests before you upgrade to Unica Plan.
    - Plan data source information worksheet
      Use the Unica Plan installation worksheet to gather information about the Unica Plan database and about other Unica products that are required for the installation of Unica Plan.
  - Upgrading Plan
    To upgrade Unica Plan, you back up your existing installation, ensure that Unica Platform is upgraded and running, run the installer, restore any trigger procedures, deploy the upgraded applications, and then run some post-deployment processes.
  - Deploying Plan
    There are general guidelines for deploying Unica Plan on WebSphere® and WebLogic.
  - Uninstalling Unica Plan
    Run the Unica Plan uninstaller to uninstall Unica Plan. When you run the uninstaller, the files that were created during the installation process are removed. For example, files such as configuration files, installer registry information, and user data are removed from the computer.
  - The configTool utility
    The properties and values on the Configuration page are stored in the Unica Platform system tables. You can use the configTool utility to import and export configuration settings to and from the system tables.

Planning the Unica Plan upgrade

For upgrading to Unica Plan 12.1.11 version, you must check from which version you are upgrading. Upgrade scenarios are based on the current version of the Unica Plan.

Unica Plan supports the following upgrade paths:

12.1.x → 12.1.11
12.1.0.x → 12.1.11

Customers on versions 10.1.x / 11.x.x / 12.0.0.x must:

perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.11.
