  - Upgrade overview
    An upgrade of Unica Optimize and Unica Optimize is complete when you upgrade, configure, and deploy and configure Unica Optimize and Unica Optimize. The Unica Optimize Upgrade Guide provides detailed information about upgrading, configuring, and deploying Unica Optimize and Unica Optimize.
  - Planning the Unica Campaign and Unica Optimize upgrade
    You can upgrade your current version of Unica Optimize to bring it up-to-date with the latest features.
    - Prerequisites
      Before you install or upgrade any Unica product, you must ensure that your computer complies with all of the prerequisite software and hardware.

      If you previously used PredictiveInsight, you can no longer use the legacy Model and Score process boxes in Unica Campaign.
    - Backing up Unica Campaign
      You must back up your current installation of Unica Campaign before upgrading Unica Campaign. Backing up your current installation of Unica Campaign ensures that you can restore your installation of Unica Campaign to a known working state if any issues occur during the upgrade process. You can back up your installation of Campaign manually or automatically when you run the installers.
    - Exporting configuration settings
      You can use the configuration settings of your current installation of Unica Campaign for the upgraded version of Unica Campaign. Use the configTool utility to export your Unica Campaign configuration parameters before upgrading. Specify and make a note of the unique file name and location of the exported.xml file that the configTool utility creates, so you can locate the file after the upgrade process is complete.
    - Pre-upgrade check utility
      Before you upgrade Unica Campaign, use the preUpgradeTool utility to identify any issues or inconsistencies in the file system and database. Running the utility is optional, but recommended.

      acUpgradeTool writes processing details, warnings, or errors to a log file. You can adjust the location and verbosity level for the log file by editing the setenv script file before you run the upgrade tool. The setenv file is stored in the same folder as the upgrade tool.

Procedure

Unica Campaign supports the following upgrade paths:
- 12.1.x.x → 12.1.10
- 12.1.10 → 25.1.0
- 25.1.0 → 25.1.1
- 25.1.1 → 26.1.0
Customers on versions earlier than 8.6.x must:
- perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 8.6.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 8.6.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
- perform a Fast Upgrade from version 8.6.0 to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
- perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.10.
- upgrade from version 12.1.10 to version 25.1.0.
- upgrade from version 25.1.0 to version 25.1.1.
- upgrade from version 25.1.1 to version 26.1.0.
Customers on versions earlier than 11.1.x.x can:
- perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
- perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.10.
- upgrade from version 12.1.10 to version 25.1.0.
- upgrade from version 25.1.0 to version 25.1.1.
- upgrade from version 25.1.1 to version 26.1.0.
Customers on versions 11.1.x.x/12.0.x.x can use one of the following options for upgrade:
- Option 1
  - perform an in-place upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0.
  - perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.10.
  - upgrade from version 12.1.10 to version 25.1.0.
  - upgrade from version 25.1.0 to version 25.1.1.
  - upgrade from version 25.1.1 to version 26.1.0.
- Option 2
  - perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
  - perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.10.
  - upgrade from version 12.1.10 to version 25.1.0.
  - upgrade from version 25.1.0 to version 25.1.1.
  - upgrade from version 25.1.1 to version 26.1.0.
  Note:
  - In Unica version 26.1.0, users can perform a direct clean installation of Unica Campaign for system databases such as DB2, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and MariaDB.
  - We are supporting fast upgrade in 26.1.0.
