Unica Upgrade Paths
In version 25.1.0, we introduced a new UI for Unica . To upgrade from existing version of Unica to the latest version, you can refer the following sections. You can also refer the Unica Fast Upgrade Guide section to perform fast upgrade of Unica products from existing version to the latest version.
Upgrading Unica from On Premises setup to On Premises Setup
If you have an on premises setup of Unica and you want to retain the on premises
setup and upgrade to the latest version of Unica, you must perform the upgrade as
mentioned in the following table:
| Your current version of Unica | Options to upgrade to 25.1.0 / 25.1.0.1 |
|---|---|
| 10.1.x |
|
| 11.x.x |
|
| 12.0.x |
|
| 12.1.x |
|
| 12.1.10 |
|
| 25.1.0 |
|
Note: If you already have Journey, you cannot perform
a Fast Upgrade. If your existing version is earlier than 12.1.10, you must
perform an in-place upgrade from existing version to 12.1.10 and from 12.1.10 to
25.1.0/25.1.0.1. If your existing version is 12.1.10, you must perform an
in-place upgrade to 25.1.0/25.1.0.1. Alternatively, you can perform a clean
installation of Unica Journey.
Upgrading Unica from On Premises Setup to Cloud-native Setup
If you have an on premises setup of Unica and you want to move to a cloud-native
setup with the latest version of Unica, you must perform the upgrade as mentioned in
the following table:
| Your current version of Unica | Upgrading to 25.1.0.1 |
|---|---|
| 10.1.x | Upgrade directly to 25.1.0.1 |
| 11.x.x | |
| 12.0.x | |
| 12.1.x | |
| 12.1.10 | |
| 25.1.x |
Important: This point is specific for
users moving from on premises setup to HCL Cloud or HCL Now setup. When
upgrading from an on premises setup to a HCL Cloud or HCL Now setup, if your
current version is 10.1.x or 11.x.x and the database of your setup is Oracle,
Microsoft SQL Server, or IBM DB2, you must first perform a Fast Upgrade to
25.1.0/25.1.0.1, and after the upgrade you must migrate the database to MariaDB.
Once the upgrade and migration of the database is completed, you can add new
products.
Note: When upgrading from an
on premises setup to an on premises setup, you cannot perform a Fast Upgrade on
Unica Journey. But if you are upgrading your existing on premises setup to a
cloud-native setup, you can perform a Fast Upgrade of Journey as the helm charts
can handle the Fast Upgrade.
Upgrading Unica from Cloud-native Setup to Clound-native Setup
To upgrade Unica from existing cloud-native setup to the latest cloud-native setup, you must perform an in-place upgrade from the existing version to 25.1.0 or 25.1.0.1.
