How do I upgrade the client on an Android device?
If you receive a notification that an update is available, perform the following procedure to install it.
Note: IBM Verse will update from the Google Play store based on your preferences in the Play Store
app. To change this setting, open the Google Play app settings, then modify the
Auto-update apps setting to control when apps are updated. You can also
modify this setting for each app by changing the Auto-update checkbox in the
options menu when viewing the app's listing in the Google Play app.
- Tap the notification icon when it appears.
- Under the Notifications banner, press the IBM Verse update. The update information screen displays.
- Press Install to install the update on your device.
- Tap OK when you are asked if you want to replace the application. The application permissions screen displays.
- Review the permissions, then select Install. Installation will begin, and you will see a progress bar.
- When the installation completes, you will be notified by a new screen. Press Open to start the updated version of IBM Verse, or press Done to return to the Home screen.
Upgrades to the legacy IBM Traveler client will come from the Traveler server.
To upgrade the IBM Verse client on your device manually, perform
the following procedure:
- Start the IBM Traveler application. Then select Menu > Tools > Check for Update.
- If you have the latest version of the client, you will see a
No update is available for IBM Verse
message. If there is an update available for IBM Verse, you will see an install screen. Press Install to install the update on your device. - Tap OK when you are asked if you want to replace the application. The application permissions screen displays.
- Review the permissions, then select Install. Installation will begin, and you will see a progress bar.
- When the installation completes, you will be notified by a new screen. Press Open to start the updated version of IBM Verse, or press Done to return to the Home screen.
