How do I create an account using the Apple profile?
You must create an account on your Apple device for mail, calendars, and contacts before you can connect to the HCL Traveler server. You can create an account automatically by installing an Apple profile. This method automatically supplies default information, such as your logon name and mail address. An Exchange ActiveSync account will be created for the Traveler server.
Before you begin
Connect to WiFi or your carrier network with the Apple device before you perform these steps. Ensure your device meets the requirements for the service. See this article for more information. Ensure that for the safari browser, you have enabled cookie support.
Procedure
-
Open the Safari browser on your device, and open the HCL Traveler user home
page for your server. For example:
http://traveler.example.com/traveler.Note: Other browser applications, such as Google Chrome, are not supported. The user status section of the user home page shows the status of the user and any user devices. If there are any error messages, they are shown in red in this section. Depending on the errors, you may need to address them before you can sync with the HCL Traveler server successfully. - Select Generate an Apple Profile for Apple Mail, Contacts, and Calendar Apps.
-
Verify the logon name and mail address.
The logon name is the user name used for the HCL Traveler user home page. The mail address defaults to your Internet mail address. Use the exact Internet form of your Domino® mail address rather than the canonical form of the address.
- Select Generate. If prompted to allow the download, select Allow.
- Select .
- When prompted about the authenticity of the profile, select Install Now to continue to install the profile.
-
If you have a security passcode for your device and are prompted for the passcode, enter
it.
This passcode is not related to the HCL Traveler password.
- When prompted for your Exchange account password, enter your service password and select Next.
- Select Done.
- If prompted, follow the instructions on the device screen to set and verify your device password. Note that the device passcode or PIN code is not the same as your service password. It is used to lock the screen on your device after some minutes of inactivity. The strength of the password varies depending on how your company has setup mobile device policies.
- If you are running a device with iOS5
or higher, you should disable the Reminders application for your SmartClouce
Notes account on the device.
- Open the Settings application.
- Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Select the account created for your SmartCloud Notes account.
- Turn off the Reminders application.
This does not disable the use of the reminders application on the device. However, it will stop the device from trying to synchronize reminders information to the service (which is not supported).
Results
The new Exchange ActiveSync account is created in Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Mail - Accounts in your Settings application of your device. Registration with the HCL Traveler server begins immediately and mail, calendars, and contacts appear shortly after. Do not open your Inbox immediately after the profile installation, as it can cause additional syncing with the server and prolongs the initial sync.
