What's new in Verse 10.0.4 on Android?
IBM Verse® 10.0.4 on Android includes the following new features and changes.
Support for Google's FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
Support for Google's FCM has been added to provide push functionality to Android devices which have used GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) in the past. Google has deprecated GCM and replaced it with FCM. The IBM® Traveler Server 10.0.1 release added support for FCM and should be used going forward to ensure push messages can be delivered successfully in the event that Google discontinues the GCM infrastructure.
SMS notification real-time sync option is removed
Due to updated Google permissions policies, Verse on Android can no longer be notified that new
mail is available for syncing through SMS messaging. Google's Google Cloud Messaging(GCM)/Firebase
Cloud Messaging(FCM) have replaced the primary need for this type of device notification. If your
device is configured for this sync option, you are notified of this change the first time you launch
10.0.4.
Note: If you are an administrator, for a complete list of auto sync options, see Setting auto sync options. To support older clients during
this transition, the SMS notification option is supported but deprecated.
