Deploying Connections community widgets for Sametime®
There are two IBM® Connections community widgets forSametime®, the Meeting Rooms Widget and the Chat Rooms Widget.
Installing and configuring the Chat Rooms widget
Install and configure the Chat Rooms widget. The Chat Rooms widget provides IBM® Sametime® Advanced persistent chat room features within IBM Connections.
Preparing to install the Chat Rooms widget
The Chat Rooms widget provides a direct link from an IBM® Connections Community to Sametime® Advanced chat rooms. In a chat room, users can participate in a live conversation with other users. The chat room conversation is persisted, and can be viewed or revived at a later time. The Chat Rooms widget provides a list of chat rooms which have been created for a specific Community. Clicking a chat room link redirects a user to that chat room on the Sametime Advanced web user interface. Chat rooms can be created using the widget, which is directly associated with the Community.

About this task

The widget sends HTTP requests to the Sametime Advanced Server. The HTTP requests are handled by the Sametime Advanced Server's REST API. The API allows the widget to retrieve chat room information and to create chat rooms from within the Community page.
