Getting started with Sametime for Android
HCL Sametime® enables you to use Sametime awareness and chat features on Mobile devices. This documentation describes how to install and use Sametime on an Android mobile device.
Setting up a Community
You can configure and subsequently change the Sametime community connection information, but typically you will use the connection information that was specified by your administrator. When the app is first started and no communities are configured, you will be presented with a welcome screen prompting you to setup a community.
Adding a new community
From the Welcome screen you will have two options for adding a new community:
Adding a new community by QR Code
By tapping Scan QR Code the device camera will open, and you will be prompted for permission to use the camera.

  Supports Smartphone and tablets running Android OS 8.0 and greater.
- Installing Sametime on your device
  To use HCL Sametime®, you must first install the application on your device from the Google Play store.
- Setting up a Community
  You can configure and subsequently change the Sametime community connection information, but typically you will use the connection information that was specified by your administrator. When the app is first started and no communities are configured, you will be presented with a welcome screen prompting you to setup a community.
  - Adding a new community
    From the Welcome screen you will have two options for adding a new community:
    - Adding a new community by QR Code
      By tapping Scan QR Code the device camera will open, and you will be prompted for permission to use the camera.
    - Adding a new community Manually
      Selecting Setup, a Community on the Welcome screen will display the Add Community Screen.

Your system administrator can provide a QR code, but it also can be found in the Sametime web client under Settings -> Configure Mobile Client.
Point the camera at a Sametime community QR code and if valid it will capture the community configuration and place you in the Add Community view.
Confirm the settings and tap Validate to verify the community with your server.
