The SafeLinx Administrator is a Java application that lets administrators configure, monitor, and maintain the resources of one or more SafeLinx Servers.

SafeLinx Administrator
The SafeLinx Administrator is a Java application that lets administrators configure, monitor, and maintain the resources of one or more SafeLinx Servers.
- Controlling resources and organizational units
  SafeLinx gives you control over all resources and organizational units.
  - Assigning administrative level of authority and access
    The view an admin sees of the SafeLinx Administrator is controlled by the level of access that is assigned to that ID.

    You can search SafeLinx for attributes associated with specific resources.

    In the Resource view, SafeLinx Administrator displays summary information for a class of resources in a table. Add columns to the table to display the summary information that is most important to you.

    In the Resource view, SafeLinx Administrator displays summary information for a class of resources in a table. If a column displays information that you would rather not include in this view, you can remove the column.

    In the Resource view, SafeLinx Administrator displays summary information for a class of resources in a table. You can change the order of the columns in the table .
  - Resetting columns in the Resources view
    In the Resource view, SafeLinx Administrator displays summary information for a class of resources in a table. If you customized the table by adding or removing columns, or by modifying the order of the columns, and now want to restore the original column settings, you can reset the columns.
  - Removing custom settings for all resources
    SafeLinx Administrator allows you to apply custom settings to all resources. These customized settings can be reset at any time to restore all resources to their original form.
  - Propagating the customized column settings to other administrators
    SafeLinx Administrator allows you to customize column settings, which you can then share with other administrators. Elect your preferences and extend your customized settings to other users.
  - Error recovery in customizing Resources view
    When you apply custom settings to the Resources view, SafeLinx Administrator makes it easy to recover from any errors that you encounter. Fix unwanted actions to return to your preferred settings.

    Resources are objects in a SafeLinx Server system. There are three ways to add resources. The method that is used is determined by the resource's dependence on other resources

Adding large numbers of users or mobile devices

When an admin must add many users or mobile devices, SafeLinx Administrator recommends batch processing to simplify the process.

Batch processing is most efficient when a single admin is adding more than 10 or 20 resources. LDIF format file is supported by the mkwg/chwg commands.

Note: If you are adding only a few users or mobile devices, or if the job of adding resources is divided among many admins, it might be easier to use the Add a Resource wizard from the Tasks tab.

To process resources by using batch, you need access to the mkwg (or chwg) commands and must be comfortable editing LDIF files. Create an LDIF formatted file, then run: mkwg -f ldif_file.

The following samples for adding users and mobile devices through batch processing are provided in the SafeLinx Administrator installation dictionary:

To use a sample, copy it and edit it to your company's settings. When you are finished, load the file into your LDAP server.

Note:

A resource in the LDIF file starts with the distinguished name (dn).
You bypass the SafeLinx Server when you modify these files, so it does no error checking when resources are processed.
To reduce space in the DSS, use the *req.ldif files and add only the non-required fields you plan on using. The *all.ldif files are provided for completeness and show all the fields possible.
