Modifying a scenario

You can modify a scenario that is currently running from the Environments Dashboard in HCL® Quality Server. You can add stubs to a scenario, modify the stub configuration, delete a stub from a scenario, modify the stub behavior during start of the scenario, rename a scenario, or delete a scenario from the Environments Dashboard.

About this task

You can perform the following tasks on the stubs contained in a scenario and on the scenario from the Environments Dashboard:

Adding stubs to a scenario

Procedure

  1. From the Environments Dashboard, expand the scenario by clicking the image of the icon icon.
  2. Click the Select Stub icon (image of the icon).
  3. Select stubs by using any of the following methods:
    1. Click the check box for the stub you want to add from the list.
    2. Click the check box in the header row to select all the stubs at once.
    3. Search for stubs by using the Stub Filter field, and then select the stubs displayed individually or by clicking the check box in the header row.
  4. Click ADD STUBS.
    Note: You can add multiple instances of the same stub to a scenario.

Modifying stub configuration

Procedure

  1. From the Environments Dashboard, expand the scenario by clicking the image of the icon icon.
  2. Stop the stub that you want to edit by clicking the stop icon (image of the icon).
    Note: The scenario will still be displayed as running unless all of its stubs are stopped.
  3. Expand the stub you want to modify by clicking the image of the icon icon of the stub.
  4. Click the Configuration tab.

    You can modify the following settings for a stub: Name, Version, Logging Level, Response Time, Agent Tags, Dedicated JVM, Performance, or Pass-through. For more information about the configuration settings, see HCL Quality Server: Modifying stub information.

Modifying stub behavior during a scenario start

Procedure

  1. From the Environments Dashboard, expand the scenario by clicking the image of the icon icon.
  2. Click the Configuration tab of the scenario.
  3. Click the Isolation field and select any of the following options to set up the behavior of the stubs during the start of the scenario:
    • No stubs will be automatically stopped upon scenario start
    • Stubs that are for the same operations will be automatically stopped upon scenario start
    • All stubs will be automatically stopped upon scenario start
  4. Click SAVE.

Deleting a stub from a scenario

Procedure

  1. From the Environments Dashboard, expand the scenario by clicking the image of the icon icon.
  2. Stop the stub that you want to delete by clicking the stop icon (image of the icon).
  3. Click the Delete icon (image of the icon) for the stopped stub.
  4. In the Remove Stub from Scenario window, click REMOVE, to delete the selected stub from the scenario.

Renaming a scenario

Procedure

  1. From the Environments Dashboard, expand the scenario by clicking the image of the icon icon.
  2. Click the Configuration tab of the scenario.
  3. Click the Name field and edit or change the name of the scenario.
    Note: Ensure to provide a name different from the existing scenario names.
  4. Click SAVE to save the modified name of the scenario.
    Note: If you have already created a scenario with the same name in the current environment, an error message is displayed, and you must save the new scenario under a different name.

Deleting a scenario

About this task

Note: Ensure that the scenario is in the STOPPED state before you delete the scenario.

Procedure

  1. From the Environments Dashboard, click the Menu icon (image of the icon) in the scenario row.
  2. Click the Delete icon (image of the icon).

    You can delete any scenario that you created.

    Note: An administrator can delete any scenario created by any user by using the Scenarios page on the Domains and environments tab on the Administration page of HCL® Quality Server.
