Normalizing the location of HCL OneTest API assets

By normalizing the location of HCL OneTest API assets in HP Quality Center, multiple users can access the same resources locally.

Procedure

  1. Select a folder in your file system where all projects are to be created, maintained, and checked out.
  2. Share this common root folder by using normal Windows file sharing. Read-only access is all that is required.
  3. Map a network drive to this folder. Use an agreed-upon letter for the drive that does not create conflicts for any potential other users, such as Q: (for Quality Center).
Note: The term "network drive" is a misnomer in this case, as you are mapping a local drive.
  4. In HP Quality Center, when you configure an HCL OneTest API test, you must specify a project location. Use the mapped drive (Q: in the example) to point to the project you want to link to.
  5. Other users must map a drive to the same folder, using the same drive letter, and link to projects by referencing that drive letter.

Results

All users can now see a performance increase because they access the resources locally. All HP Quality Center linked tests are also run locally through the mapped drive.
