Using DBUPSPACE Settings to Suppress Index Information
You can also prevent indexes from being used by UPDATE STATISTICS operations in sorting rows by setting the third parameter of the DBUPSPACE environment variable to a value of 1. Refer to Chapter 3 of the HCL OneDB™ Guide to SQL: Reference for information about the DBSPACETEMP and DBUPSPACE environment variables, which can restrict the system resources that are available for UPDATE STATISTICS operations. (The database server uses the storage locations that DBSPACETEMP specifies only when you use the HIGH option of UPDATE STATISTICS.)
