Function of the DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT parameter
If a distributed transaction is forced to wait longer
than the number of seconds specified by DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT for a shared-memory
resource, the thread that owns the transaction assumes that a multiserver
deadlock exists. The following error message is returned:
-154 ISAM error: deadlock timeout expired - Possible deadlock.
The default value of DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT is 60 seconds. Adjust this value carefully. If you set it too low, individual database servers end transactions that are not deadlocks. If you set it too high, multiserver deadlocks might reduce concurrency.
