Developers Kit User's Guide

The HCL Informix® Developers Kit User's Guide describes how to use tools to develop and package modules.

Note: Support for DataBlade Developers Kit (DBDK) is removed starting Informix Server 14.10.xC6.

A module extends the functionality of HCL Informix® to handle data with user-defined routines or to handle nontraditional kinds of data, such as full text, images, video, spatial, and time series data.

These topics are written for experienced C, C++, or Java programmers who are comfortable writing libraries to support applications. Use these topics to develop modules that extend your HCL Informix® database server.

If you are unfamiliar with modules, read HCL® Informix® DataBlade® Module Development Overview before you read these topics.

Check the release notes for software compatibility requirements for HCL Informix® and HCL® Informix® Client Software Development Kit (Client SDK).

To use DBDK to develop your module in a Windows development environment, you need to install the following software:
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0
  • Netscape Navigator 4.0 (or later) or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or later)

To use BladePack to package your module with an interactive installation for Windows, you need an InstallShield professional license.
