Perform a new or upgrade install of one or many Domino® servers.
Preparing for installing and setting up Domino® servers
Installing an HCL Domino® server is the first part of deploying a server. The second part is using the Domino server setup program to configure the server.
Domino® server installation
The first step in deploying a Domino® server is installation, or copying the program files to the system's local drive.
Installing Domino language packs
A Domino language pack contains translated versions of Domino templates and specific core binary files.
Installing Domino language packs silently
To install language packs silently, the language pack installer refers to the file LPSilent.ini for the install parameters that you otherwise provide through prompts during a GUI or console install.

        When upgrading to a new release, upgrade servers and the language packs at the same time. The Domino and language pack versions should be the same.

      Concurrent I/O (CIO) and Direct I/O (DIO) are not supported with Domino® servers. CIO is a file system feature introduced in IBM® AIX® 5.2.0.10, also known as maintenance level 01, in the Enhanced Journaling File system (JFS2). This feature improves performance for relational databases.

  AutoUpdate notifies you of the latest HCL Domino and Domino product family available on the Domino server, and allows you to download the software. You can also use it to distribute, and optionally, install, software to groups or selected Domino servers.

Installing Domino language packs silently

To install language packs silently, the language pack installer refers to the file LPSilent.ini for the install parameters that you otherwise provide through prompts during a GUI or console install.

Before you begin

Create a LPSilent.ini file. If you want to avoid the need to create one from scratch, you can run the language pack installer from the GUI or console on one Domino server. The installation creates an LPSilent.ini file in the program directory that captures the installation parameters specified during the GUI or console install. You can then use that LPSilent.ini file to install silently on other servers, customizing if needed.

Procedure

The following table describes the command to install language packs silently on each Domino platform:

Note: The commands shown in the following table include a path to the LPSilent.ini file. If you omit this path, the installer looks for the file in the language pack installer directory.

Note: On Linux and AIX, log on as the UNIX root user to install the language pack.
