Upgrading Notes® clients
You can push an upgrade to Notes® clients using Notes® Smart Upgrade or other third party mechanism, Smart Upgrade Run-As wizard (SURUNAS), or Upgrade-by-mail. You can also upgrade Notes® clients using the Notes® installation executable either silently (command line) or using the installer's graphical user interface. The supplied installation executable is used for an initial install or an upgrade install.
Before you begin the Notes® client upgrade, do the following:
- Review the Upgrade Central: Planning your upgrade to Notes and Domino 9.0 on the Notes® and Domino® wiki.
- Review the Considerations topic in this guide specific to your client platform.
- Close all open applications, including anti-virus software.
- Ensure that users have Write and Modify permissions to the program directory, data directory, and all associated subdirectories.
- Have administrative or root access rights required to install/upgrade Notes®.
- If you are upgrading Notes® on a Microsoft™ Windows™ system, log in as an administrator or set administrator-level privileges for all users. If administrative rights are not available, enable the setting Always install with elevated privileges.
