Setting up a server as a pass-through destination
Set up a server as a pass-through destination to enable users and servers to access it through a pass-through server.
About this task
Use IBM® Domino® configuration
settings to assign a server as a pass-through destination. The following
guidelines apply:
- Access to a pass-through destination is subject to restrictions set in the server access section of the server document's Security tab. These fields define general access to the server.
- Support for direct dialup modem (X.PC) connections is available only in releases of Domino® earlier than release 8.5. You can use Domino® Administrator 8.5 for direct dialup modem support only on servers running releases earlier than 8.5.
- You can grant a user or server general access to a server and prohibit access to the same server as a pass-through destination. However, if you deny a user or server general access to a server, those users and servers cannot access the server as a pass-through destination.
Procedure
- From the Domino® Administrator, click the Configuration tab.
- Click .
- Open the server document for the server that you want to set up as a pass-through destination and click Edit Server.
- Click the Security tab and in the Passthru
Use section, specify an Access this server value.
Do one of the following. Separate multiple entries with commas or
semicolons.
- Specify the names of the users, groups, and servers allowed to access the server as a pass-through destination. When this field is blank, the server is not available as a pass-through destination.
- Enter an asterisk (*) to provide access for all users and servers, even those not listed in the Domino® Directory. An asterisk followed by a certifier name provides access for all users and servers certified by a particular organization or organizational unit. For example, the entry */Renovations allows access to all users in the Renovations organization.
- Click Save & Close.
