Monitoring server shutdown
Domino's Shutdown Monitor task ensures that Domino® terminates when requested to do so, that is, the server does not hang while attempting to shut down.
About this task
When you request a server shutdown, the System Monitor task monitors the shutdown activity. If no activity occurs for a specified amount of time, Domino® automatically acts as though the server has crashed and takes appropriate action including collecting data about the state of the server and then terminating the server. An NSD log is generated before the server terminates.
You specify the amount of time that Domino® monitors the shutdown activity in the field, Server Shutdown Timeout, in the Automatic Server Recovery section of the Server document. To disable this feature, enter 0 (zero) in the Server Shutdown Timeout field.
