    LotusScript® Extensions for Connectors (LC LSX) enhances the power of Notes® by extending its scripting to data outside of Notes through the use of Connectors. The programming model is independent of the individual connector. This eliminates the need to learn each individual system, while at the same time allowing experienced users to access the individual features of a specific system.

      - Handling an ODBC event
        Events precede and follow many methods, as listed in the documentation. They have names such as BeforeConnectTo, AfterConnectTo, BeforeNextRow, and AfterNextRow. If you write an event handler and bind it to the event with the On Event statement, the handler is called when the event occurs.

        There are two basic approaches to recording updates in your back-end database: auto-commit mode and transaction mode. Many databases require you to work in auto-commit mode; however, where possible, you should work in transaction mode because it requires much less overhead.
      - Caching data
        By default, LS:DO caches the data you retrieve with a query; that is, it stores the data in memory. This is useful when you are moving back and forth between rows and don't want to have to fetch them again, but it uses up memory fairly quickly.
