They contain access information for specific databases and users. When you create an activity, you make connection choices from your set of defined connections.

        The Domino® Enterprise Connection Services (DECS) connection document for Oracle defines a connection to an Oracle database. Connection documents enable you to define your system connections. They contain access information for specific databases and users. When you create an activity, you make connection choices from your set of defined connections.

      - Character Data Types and Key Fields
        When you use data of type CHAR in a key field, the functionality of the Oracle connector in two scenarios must be addressed: trimming spaces and creating an entry.
      - Using Oracle stored procedures
        Wherever procedures are allowed in HCL Enterprise Integrator (HEI) or Domino® Enterprise Connection Services (DECS), an Oracle stored procedure may be used such as the destination of a Direct Transfer or within a Connector LotusScript® Extensions (LC LSX) script. The stored procedure being called must have its parameters set up correctly for the call.
      - Example: Oracle Stored Procedure
        The following is an example of an Oracle stored procedure body. This is the format that would be required for the Open event of a Virtual Fields activity assuming that the key field is called NUMBER1 and the data fields are called NUMBER2, TEXT1, and TEXT2. In this context, the key field is the input parameter, and the result set is expected to include the data fields and the key field. To accommodate the fact that one of the output parameter names is the same as a key value in the select statement, the parameter keys should be copied to local variables to avoid scoping problems in the procedure.

  - LSX for Connectors
    LotusScript® Extensions for Connectors (LC LSX) enhances the power of Notes® by extending its scripting to data outside of Notes through the use of Connectors. The programming model is independent of the individual connector. This eliminates the need to learn each individual system, while at the same time allowing experienced users to access the individual features of a specific system.
  - Accessing external databases through LS:DO
    Developers are advised not to use LS:DO. Developers should use the Connector LSX for (LCLSX) when accessing external data sources.

Fields in the DECS Connection Document - version and user information

The fields in the Domino® Enterprise Connection Services (DECS) connection document are described as follows.

Field	Description
Oracle Version	Select the version of the Oracle client to use with this connector. Note: If you have an existing Oracle connection document and you change the "Oracle Version" value, you may receive unexpected results.
Host String	Service Name as defined in your local tnsnames.ora file. Service names are simple names commonly used to specify the location of database services on a network.
User Name	Specifies the user name required to login to the Oracle database.
Password	Specifies the password associated with the User Name. This displays as hidden text.
Alternate Default Text Translation	Use this option to enter an alternative default Oracle text format if the standard default results in improper translation. The text format must be supported by Oracle.
Selection Type	Specifies the metadata type for a connection. Select Table to connect to an Oracle table. Select View to connect to an Oracle view. Select Procedure to connect to an Oracle stored procedure. Spaces in a table or column name are not permitted.

Table/View/Procedure Selection

The Table/View/Procedure section is described as follows.


Field	Description
Owner	Lists the available owner names for the preceding table, view, or procedure selection type in the specified database. This option enables you to narrow the selection of data sources to a specific owner level. A selection list displays all Oracle owners. Choose the owner of the table, view, or procedure being connected to from the list (optional).
Name	Lists the available table, view, or procedure names defined for the specified Owner. A selection list displays all Oracle tables, views, or procedures for the selected owner. Choose the table, view, or procedure to connect to. If an owner is not specified, all names are listed for the specified Selection Type. Spaces in a table or column name are not permitted.
Column/Parameter	Lists the columns or parameters (stored procedure) defined for the specified name. This automatically lists the procedures or columns and corresponding data types of the selected parameter, table, or view. Spaces in a table or column name are not permitted.
Comment	Enables you to add comments to the connection document that help describe its intent or usage. This is a rich text field. You can paste Notes® doclinks, as well as normal text characters here.
