Designing XPages applications
HCL Domino® Designer provides the means to populate an XPage with controls and other artifacts, and to associate an XPage with data stores.
Adding controls
Controls are visual elements such as edit boxes, buttons, images, and text that allow users to manipulate data on an XPage.
Designing with custom controls in XPages
A custom control is a collection of controls that are stored as a single object. Similar to the way a subform can be placed on more than one form, a custom control can be created once and added to multiple XPages. When you update a custom control, every XPage that uses that custom control automatically gets updated with the changes. This saves you design time because you do not have to update each XPage separately.

      A custom control is a collection of controls that are stored as a single object. Creating custom controls

Create a new custom control to use in XPages.

About this task

To create a custom control, do the following steps:

Procedure

On the main menu, click File > New > Custom Control.
In the Domino Designer - New Custom Control dialog box, do the following steps:
1. In the Name field, type the name of the custom control.
2. In the Comment field, add any text comments.
3. In the Application field, select the application that will contain the custom control. By default, the application in which you are currently working is selected.
4. Click OK.

What to do next

The new custom control is displayed in the Applications Navigator in the Custom Controls category and also in the Custom Controls section in the Controls palette.

You can also select Custom Controls in the Applications Navigator to create a new custom control.
