On the Events tab in the component, click the Add button to create an event.

Specify a name.
Select a data type: String, Number, Boolean, JSON, or a custom type.
Go to the Custom Types tab to create custom data types.
Select Publish event if the event sends data.
Select Receive event if the event listens for and receives data.
